Let the Night Fall Silent
Blown is the westerly wind
That carried us here, disappeared and
Never returned to the body that
Floats burning, unseen, disconcerted in
A freedom dream
Choked by the breath
That stokes the fires of
Sky, the fires of
Ground, the fires of
Corporate concrete novelty
Gray and gold fluorescence
Flaring under our eyelids as
A carousel of glittery mucky
Wonder
Slammed is the door
In the face of the
Dreamer, the Fantasist, the Romantic
Disgraced by the poetry of
Salvation and strung up by the lilt of
Indifference
City lights shimmering
Superfluous superficial supernatural color
On black waters that sweep us
Underground like magma cooling into
Bedrock that bears the stampede
Of a million heavy
Carefree feet
Wept are the tears
Of innocents behind bars of
Solitude, gunned down triple by the
Devil of love, devil of hatred, devil of
Metamorphosis
Blue with woe yet with
Stars in the reds and whites of our eyes
Beautiful and irredeemable
Blameless and irreproachable
In the face of an erupting volcano.
